EPILOGUE

1 YEAR LATER……

*** Zayn’s POV ***

Imagine every moment you’ve experienced real happiness. And I don’t mean the kind of happiness you feel when you look out the window to find a beautiful sunny day, or the kind of happiness you feel when you get the last donut at a cafe. I mean real happiness. Happiness that fills every part of your body, evolving yourself into a person you wish you were more often. Happiness that isn’t temporary, but what you’ll hold in your heart and memory forever.

Now imagine losing all of that.

Imagine losing every moment that made you feel. Feel like life was worth living and that the world wasn’t such a bad place after all. A feeling that everything was now possible; gone. Then out of pure serendipity, all of that lost happiness, suddenly found it’s way back to you.

That very moment I pulled her into my arms, our cheeks pressed together and our hearts leaping, beating hard from our chests, in that very moment, I received every happiness in my life back again.

I never forgot that moment. There was not a day I didn’t think about it. It was one of those experiences that would define you and your life. That feeling as she crashed into my arms is far beyond words could tell. But all I knew was that there was no longer a time for as long as I live that would separate Holly and I. I vowed to myself that night she was going to be mine forever. And that vow I made sure, would never be broken.

~ 2 weeks later…. ~

*** Zayn’s POV ***

“Still hasn’t contacted ya then?” Niall asked, peering over my shoulder as Holly’s voicemail greeted me again,

I sighed, “No.” I picked myself off the arm of the couch still clenching onto my phone and slouched onto the left side, staring blankly at the TV, “I just don’t get it Niall. She promised me she’d call when she arrived and now 2 weeks on she hasn’t even called once.”

Niall threw his legs over the back of the couch as he leaped, landing beside me, “Maybe she lost your number?”

I turned my head and frowned at him,

“Just sayin’” he shrugged,

I ran my fingers through my messy hair nervously, “What if something happened to her Niall? Do you think something happened?”

Chapter 34: Goodbye

I’d just like to take this opportunity and say, readers, I hope you are ready for this chapter. It’s bloody intense.

But just trust me.

A faint light of ray from the morning Parisian sun peaked through the curtains of our windows in the hotel. It was cold in the room, but our bare bodies between the sheets created a comfortable warmth. My heavy eyes sensed the earliness of the morning, urging, convincing my body to fall back asleep, but with an awakening of the feel of Zayn’s arm around me, the sound of his heart beat softly against my ear and the scent of his natural, un-cologned skin, sleep was no longer my prioritised desire anymore like it use to be.

Chapter 32: Closure

“Sorry we couldn’t catch the flight back home with you,” Emily sighed, “but this one over there..” she turned to Carmello raising her eyebrow, “couldn’t wait any longer to go home! He’s so whiney sometimes..”

“Hey!” Carmello frowned walking towards us, “I heard that!” he folded his big arms and tapped his foot, “I am not whiney!”

“Aww baby, you totally are!” Emily pouted nodding her head,

‘PASSENGERS SHOULD NOW LINE UP TO BOARD THE PLANE. I REPEAT, PASSENGERS DEPARTING FOR DUBAI SHOULD NOW LINE UP TO BOARD THE PLANE.’

We looked to the ceiling in sync hearing the announcement and I turned back to the two, giggling a little and let out a sigh. Emily opened her arms wide open and squeezed me tight.

Chapter 31: Wed (Part 2)

The next day….

Yesterday was definitely one hell of an emotional ride but I was glad that the outcome was what I was hoping for. Although I was hurting myself, knowing that I could keep Zayn and the rest of the boys together was all that I needed to soften the pain. But it still did not beat the fact that I was dreading to go home and leaving everything and everyone behind. My feelings were so conflicted; I felt happy yet sad at the same time. I created a new life here, but my real one was waiting for me merely days away and I’d be off on a plane away from the one I truly loved.

I opened up the door setting off a cute little ring from the bell that was placed on top of the door of the cafe and walked in trying to spot Emily at a table, most probably sipping on a cup of coffee.

“Holly!” I heard a voice shout behind me,

I swiftly turned around and saw a gleaming Emily, her hands well wrapped around what exactly I guessed; a cup of coffee. I squealed on the spot, jumping a little and skipped my way to her table then shot myself at her with a hug.

“I’ve missed you!” she said squeezing me with her arms,

“I’ve missed you too!!” I replied as I broke off from our hold and sat down at the table,

“Well,” she snorted, “if you weren’t so busy living the high life with your famous boyfr—”

Chapter 31: Wed (Part 1)

*** Zayn’s POV ***

Did she really just say that? Did she really have the decency to go this far? It felt like the moment had been put to a standstill, a horrible silence had occupied the room as Holly’s words shocked everyone. My heart felt like it had bursted inside, body trembling and eyes burning up, feeling like tears were the only answer to how to react to words that felt like a stab to the heart. I broke from Holly’s saddened stare and approached the door to exit not only the room but to exit this feeling. I wasn’t going to let her or my boys see how weak I could be and because of that one sentence Holly had said, I was at my weakest.

“Zayn! Where are you going?” Holly called,

I blocked out her voice and kept walking, opened up the door and shut it behind me. I grabbed the sides of my head and slid my back down the wall, falling onto my backside and releasing my first tear. Why was she doing this to me? Why did it have to come to this? All I ever wanted was to be with her, to make her happy and forget all the things of the past to make a better future. Yet it seemed like every time we were on the right track, ‘fate’ would pull us back and stop us, leaving us with a brand new mess to fix.

I heard the door beside me open then slowly close, not bothering to turn to see who it was. My senses began to tingle as I felt a pair of warm hands wrap around mine. A tingle that only one person’s touch could create.

Chapter 30: Fate

My eyes were fixed on my iPhone’s screen, hands clutched onto it tight as I waited anxiously for Lou’s reply. I was not going to waste time just sitting around knowing that Zayn was on his way to end his career, end his dreams, and end this amazing life he built with the boys just to be with me. Although there was no way that I would admit even to my own self that there was a part of me that did want him to give it all up so I could have him, I knew that an endless guilt would grow inside of me like a parasite - a bug I was not willing to live with.

I didn’t have a plan, I was simply going with my instinct hoping whatever the outcome that was on the horizon of the day was going to be for the best. I was letting fate take the wheel today and I prayed for only my heart to be the one that was going to be broken.

“Ugh c’mon Lou!” I whined, extending my arm out with my iPhone in my hand thinking it would magically make Lou’s reply receive quicker,

*BUZZ*

The vibration and sound alert quickened my heart rate as I shot up from my chair nervously unlocking my screen and opening up the new text message.

“Yes!” I squealed, relieved that Lou’s name popped up,

Chapter 29: Sacrifice

*** Zayn’s POV ***

“That’s funny!” Niall hesitantly laughed, “He’s joking lads, he’s gotta be joking. Good one Zayn!” his tone hinting a sign of weakness,

I sadly gazed at him with a feeling of regret now occupying the inside of me, as the room was now beginning to feel tense. The flowing of the air through the vents of the air-conditioner was all to be heard, the silence leaving an unbearable anticipation.

Niall forced a doubtful smile as his baby blue eyes began to appear glassy, his stare begging for reassurance, “Zayn, tell them you’re joking!” he let out another hesitant laugh stepping closer to me with his hands in his pockets, “Go on”

I grabbed the back of my neck rubbing it while looking down at the ground again, too frightened to look back up at Niall to say the words no one wanted to hear.

“I’m sorry…” I whispered cowardly under my breath not knowing what else to say,

Chapter 28: Leaving

“What?” I asked blankly staring back at him, “I’m sorry but I thought I just heard you say you were coming back with me?”

“I did say that.” he replied smirking,

I leaned my head forward tilting my chin slightly, ”..to Australia?” I asked lowering my tone,

“That’s the plan!” he strangely chirped,

I stepped one foot backwards and folded my arms, gawping at him, “Okay and when did you decide on this?”

“Erm, just then!” he admitted placing his hands onto each of my arms while smiling, “I thought you’d be happy about this!” he laughed,

Okay. I wasn’t going to lie, of course I was happy with this. It meant that we didn’t have to part our ways, and well, separate our lives from one another. The thought of it excited me, overwhelmed me, but I wasn’t one to be selfish. Zayn already had a thriving and promising career with the boys, I would be a fool to agree with his decision and let him throw all that away just for me. The harsh reality was that we were from two different worlds that simply could not be joined, despite us being joint at the heart. The moment I had been dreading from the very beginning was fast approaching with time clearly not on our side.

Chapter 27: Never Letting Go (Part 2)

My body was slowly coming out of it’s sleep mode as the sun rays of the morning shun through the room. A soft thumping filled my ear whilst a warm arm had comfortably wrapped itself around my back, holding me close. I slowly opened my eyes, seeing only the texture of Zayn’s grey shirt moving up and down slowly with each breath he took. A smile automatically plastered itself on my face at the fact that as I woke up from hours of dreaming, the dream had still not come to an end. My reality was now finally better than the figments of my imagination that came alive in my sleep. I wished for nothing but more mornings like this simply being in Zayn’s arms that I was convinced was where I belonged.

I moved up my head to see his face to only find him gazing back down at me with a lazy half smile, “You’re awake!” he exclaimed, his smile now showing off his pearly white teeth,

“I am!” I giggled, stroking his stubble on his chin amused,

He stole a kiss from me quicker than I could realise and gently touched my cheek with his fingertips, “What would you like for breakfast babe?” he asked eyes smiling at me,

I grinned ready to pounce, “More kisses!” I yelled, pushing myself on top of him covering every inch of his face with my lips,

He overpowered me as he toppled me onto my back, hovering over my body and began to kiss me on my neck slowly, lingering every so often in between each kiss. My eyes rolled back in pleasure but was quickly interrupted by the loud rings of my phone.

Chapter 27: Never Letting Go (Part 1)

*** Harry’s POV ***

“You were a bit harsh back there don’t you think Lou?” I said while picking up the empty bottles and throwing them in a bag,

After Zayn left we thought it’d be appropriate for the party to end, too much had already happened and the mood inside of the apartment was too awkward to continue partying. Basically, there was just nothing to celebrate about anymore.

He sighed picking up the rubbish bag and held it out in front of me, “Oh c’mon, you know Zayn, he’s a fair bit stubborn sometimes and I knew a good scold would set him straight to let everything sink in.”

“Well,” I threw another bottle in, “You do know Zayn better than all of us..”

He stepped forward and raised his eyebrows with pride, “Trust me, after tonight everything will be back to normal.”

“Hmm..you’re probably right.” I nodded,

He let out a laugh and wrapped his arm around my shoulder, his other hand shuffling through my curls, “Of course I’m right!”

I laughed and hugged him from the side, squeezing him with all my might. He easily broke from my weak hold and slapped me firmly on the ass.

“Hey!” Liam called out, “Get back to work you two!”

I turned to Lou and mimicked Liam’s scolding sarcastically then picked up some more rubbish.

“I saw that!” Liam whined,

I looked back at him with a cheeky smile and blew him a kiss.

Chapter 26: Change

I pushed myself against Zayn’s apartment door opening it, finding any excuse to hurt myself for almost doing the most stupidest thing I could ever possibly do. Everything that happened this night was a complete disaster. But I no longer cared about Zayn’s drunkenness or the blonde bitch who I refused to acknowledge had a name. None of that mattered to me anymore because it didn’t even compare to the betrayal I was willing to do out of my stupid pride in taking revenge. Cheating is never okay. Especially to a person whom I knew, above all, was the only one I could ever love this much. It wasn’t just a feeling anymore, it was a fact.

I picked up a cushion from Zayn’s couch as I walked into the lounge room and stood in the middle of his apartment, shoving it into my face, screaming. It was so hard to come to terms with everything that happened tonight and I could feel it deep in my heart that I was never going to forgive myself. Even though I didn’t actually kiss Josh, would I if it wasn’t for Niall and Lou coming in?

Chapter 25: Caught

*** Niall’s POV ***

“Niall!” Lou yelled as he came down from the stairs and joined me to my side,

“Hey! What’s up?” I asked stopping in front of the balcony door,

“Have you seen Holly?”

“Nah, haven’t! I’m looking for Josh, think he’s on the balcony!” I pointed to the door,

Lou nodded, “Oh! I might as well come with you,”

I smiled in agreement as I put my hand on the door and slid it open revealing two shadows close and huddled together. The shadows became clearer as I squinted my eyes and turned around to Louis confused, “Is that? ..Who I think it is?”

Lou’s eyes widened as he peered over my shoulder, “It can’t be..”
